Vacancies & Veterinary Careers at Carisbrooke Vets

We’re always open to hearing from qualified vets, nurses and support team professionals who are interested in joining our practice.

Our branches in Newport, Sandown and Freshwater have been providing high quality veterinary care since the 1960s, and as an Isle of Wight practice we’re naturally surrounded by beautiful coastlines and views.

Our team members enjoy a varied caseload, and we offer a range of consultations and services such as hydrotherapy and acupuncture at our Sandown and Freshwater branches.

Our main Newport surgery is a mixed site with outstanding facilities, allowing us to offer a wide range of small animal, exotic and farm services to our patients and clients.

If you’re interested in emergency and critical care, we also run our own in-house out of hours service from this branch.

If you have a passion for small animal and exotic care, our dedicated small animal branches in Sandown and Freshwater also offer a range of consultations, allowing our team to really get to know local clients and pets.

We believe that continued learning and development opportunities are vital, and actively encourage our team members to work towards extra qualifications and certificates.

As part of the VetPartners group of practices, we can offer a generous CPD allowance and the support of a wider network of practices in the UK and beyond.

We’re proud to be an approved veterinary nurse training practice, and can take in veterinary students for extra mural study. We’re also able to offer work experience opportunities for local over 16s.

Vet Vacancy

We're looking for a Small Animal Vet to join our mixed practice on the ‘tropical’ Isle of Wight with lots of variety in caseload and the opportunity to work cases up to a high level.

The island is only a short ferry trip from the mainland (Southampton, Portsmouth, or Lymington) and has very easy access to Southampton airport and fast train links to London. You would be joining a young, vibrant, and supportive team with a wide range of interests and experience. We also pay for four return car ferry crossing per year for our vets.

Our team currently consists of sixteen vets, sixteen nurses, three animal care assistants and a supportive management/admin team.

Maybe you’d be interested in dipping your toe into farm animal work in a supportive and friendly environment alongside a variety of SA work? We’d love to support you in your journey. We have a very varied caseload including exotics, farm and small.

The rota:

You would be working a 4-day week with a 1 in 10 OOH rota and no full weekends, we are lucky to have an on-call nurse available to help our vets, as well as a second Vet on call. We are welcome to all experience levels.
